We've just released an updated version of the Eye on the Reef app! Eye on the Reef enables you access zoning maps and rules and record Reef health, animal sightings or incidents. The app also works outside of mobile range. By using the app, you contribute valuable data to help Reef managers understand and protect these ecosystems.

Once the app is reinstalled, it will be compatible with all iOS and Android devices. The app has been developed to fix some of the issues with the existing app on newer phones.

The Sightings function enables users to record Reef health, animal sightings or incidents while in the Marine Park. Information captured by citizen scientists can help Reef managers and scientists capture the Reef’s condition. You are not required to log on or submit sightings if you do not wish to.

This free app will help you to access and understand zoning rules in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Install this latest version before you head out on the water and click on the zoning icon to access zoning information. Remember that you can also cross check your app with your GPS plotter and a copy of the zoning maps.

No, your previous sightings data will be securely stored and retained during the installation process. However, it's always a good practice to ensure you have uploaded all your sightings from your device before uninstalling or reinstalling any app.
