The Reef Authority Indigenous Compliance Team, supported by Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol, recently delivered compliance training to three Indigenous Ranger groups in and around Yarrabah and East Trinity Inlet.

The Eyes and Ears Compliance training package, is tailored to Indigenous Rangers and Traditional Owners, in an effort to enhance compliance understanding and support with management of Traditional Sea Estates within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

The training session was unique in that it brought together three Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger groups – Gunggandji, Gunggandji-Mandingalbay-Yidinji and Mandingalbay Yidinji, whose rangers work to manage land and seas from Russel Heads north to Michaelmas Cay.

The cooperative delivery approach by three different teams from the Reef Authority along with Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol, allowed for a highly informative and enjoyable day with Indigenous Rangers and Traditional Owners.
